ROTARY CLUB OF EVERETT
President Kelli Thode started the 32nd meeting of the year and the 5,632nd meeting of the Rotary Club of Everett with the Pledge of Allegiance.
THOUGHT OF THE DAY:
Kari Quaas asked for a moment of silence as we remember Zeb Cobb. Zeb passed away last week. She said “Showing up is key. Don Steward and she had great conversation in Zoom meeting. Grateful to have spent time with Zeb.”

ANNOUNCEMENTS:
President Kelli made the following announcements:
- Last week was a week full of socials. The morning coffee was on Wednesday, and the Sushi Crawl was Thursday.
- Blood Drive is Friday, Feb. 20th at the Everett Elks, 10 am – 3 pm.
- Annual Fundraiser is the month of March. The finale will be on Thursday, April 2nd at the Imagine Children’s Museum. Kari Petrasek is seeking raffle items for the fundraiser.
- The YES Program Guatemala Fundraiser is Saturday, March 7th. Hakumi will be going to Guatemala. Please consider purchasing tickets and attending the event.
- Two new membership applications were received, and the board received these applications. New member, Marci Volmer, will be inducted in a couple of weeks.
HAPPY DOLLARS/BIRTHDAY BUCKS:
Betsy Baker-Bold had a bell ringer in memory of Zeb Cobb. Zeb was her dad’s barber and he even cut her hair when she was little. Zeb was a fixture in the community.
Larry O’Donnell had a bell ringer for Zeb. Zeb was a special guy and he knew Betty before Zeb.
Paul Stoot had a bell ringer for Zeb and for Dr. Reverand Jesse Jackson.
Mike Holcomb had a bell ringer for his birthday.
Steve Miller had a bell ringer. Zeb Cobb introduced Steve to Rotary and was his sponsor.

There was a reminder to donate more prizes to the Raffle Committee.
Winner Number 1 – Brian Hollingshead selected the wine and candle.
Winner Number 2 – Bob Bavasi selected the wine and candy.
Winner Number 3 –Steve Juntwait selected the wine and cap.
PROGRAM:
Walt Greenwood introduced Catherine Rawsthorne. Catherine is an Emergency Management Specialist at the Snohomish County Health Department. She stared in 2025 and previously worked for the American Red Cross.
Caterine talked about the Snohomish County Medical Reserve Corp. There are more than 700 local units, and the Medical Reserve Corp was created following 9.11.2001.
In 2025 there were 66 volunteers with hours, 388 volunteer shifts filled, 88 activities reported, 1,201 contributed and over $48,000 economic impact.
In 2026, the Medical Reserve Corp is working on restructuring the unit to support key impact areas. The key impact areas are Medical countermeasures, Shelter Operations, Call Center Surge Staffing, Risk Communication Support, and Targeted Community Outreach.
The impact teams prepare the Medical Reserve Corp to respond by doing non-emergency wor to build the skills. Helping with emergency shelters and community education are two top activities the unit works on.
Focus on events supporting the impact areas which means participating in fewer events overall.
