LEADING OFF
President Kelli Thode rang the bell and called to order meeting #5629 of The Rotary Club of Everett and meeting #29 of her presidency.
THOUGHT OF THE DAY
Vice President Ryan Willis presented the Thought of the Day, giving some advice about mentoring.
VISITING ROTARIANS & GUESTS
Ashley Bolden introduced her friend Tina, a hypnotist. Ahmed and Ken were visiting from BECU.
CLASSIFICATION TALK: Lynsey Gagnon
Lynsey Gagnon gave her classification talk. Lynsey was born in Snohomish County and attended Kamiak High School. She has a 1 and a 5 year old and lives in Monroe. Lynsey is the Executive Director of the Interfaith Family Shelter. She began her career at the United Way of Snohomish County and spent eight years with Volunteers of America. The Interfaith Family Shelter serves homeless families. They have a 70% success rate. Their flagship shelter has 11 units. They also have single family homes and eight pallet shelters throughout the area as well as a safe parking program. People can get involved by sponsoring, volunteering and donating.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
Kari Petracek announced the district grant seminar March 7th & 28th, 9am-1pm online. The seminar is free to attend.
PP Ed Petersen announced $20,000 in donations and a $31,000 grant from the Rotary Foundation. The funds are earmarked for a 30,000-gallon water storage tank in Dajabon, DR.
Heather Barnhart mentioned the blood drive coming up in February.
Janice Ellis stated that exchange student, Hakumi, is selling raffle tickets for the Arlington Rotary YES program. Also a sushi crawl on Thursday, February 12th for Hakumi’s birthday.
President Kelli announced some upcoming member social events.
- Coffee Hour at Bargreen’s Coffee, February 11th, 9-10am.
- After Hours at Joe Gaffney’s home in March.
She also mentioned the district conference May 1-3 at Harrison Hot Springs.
HAPPY DOLLAR$
PP Mark Valentine spent two weeks in Hawaii and attended a Rotary meeting there.
Cat Wilson was happy to be here.
PP Steve Miller was happy for cold weather.
Ashley Bolden was happy that her youngest daughter turned four years old today.
RAFFLE
Ashley Bolden ran today’s raffle. Winners were:
- Jim Schrader won a bottle of wine
- Clay Browse won a candle and some mints
- PP Larry O’Donnell won a mystery box!
Paul Stoot had a Kenny Easley Hall of Fame trading card auctioned. Sold to Jim Schrader for $100.
PROGRAM: Club Social
President Kelli thanked PP Greg Tisdel and VP Ryan Willis for their work with the Strategic Planning Committee. She also thanked all of the Rotarians that attended. Ryan discussed the meeting and stated that great ideas were brought up. Brian Hollingshead said that the ideas seemed realistic. Walt Greenwood was impressed with the number of ideas that people came up with. There was great participation. Kari Quaas stated that it was good to plan for the future. The meeting had great attendance and great ideas.
