ROTARY CLUB OF EVERETT
MEETING:
President Kelli Thode started the 36th meeting of the year and the 5,636th meeting of the Rotary Club of Everett with the Pledge of Allegiance.
INTRODUCTION OF VISITING ROTARIANS AND GUESTS:
Minh Ly and Ken McClure from BECU. They have both been accepted as new members. Welcome!
Ashley Bolden introduced Cami Anthony from Motto Mortgage and Neha Kaur who operates a non-profit assisting women from India. Neha has been approved for membership by the Board of Directors and is sponsored by Janis Ellis.
Erik Danielson joined us and is a former member of the Rotary Club of Everett.
ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Jim Staniford announced the 20th annual Rotary Night at the Silvertips is March 28th. This is a fundraiser for Dawson’s Place and there will be raffle prizes. See Jim for seat tickets in the Octane lounge.
Ashley Bolden announced the next Rotary Coffee hour is April 8th at 9:00AM at The Loft Bakeshop & Café located at 1309 Hewitt Ave.
President Kelli invited the membership, family and friends to the Finale Celebration at the Imagine Children’s Museum April 2. You are encouraged to invite your extended family members, neighbors, coworkers. Please feel free to forward the electronic invitation. There is no charge to attend but RSVPs are required.
Steve Juntwait spoke about the Annual Fundraiser, a raffle, and the importance of all of the membership making a contribution so we can continue to support our programs at home and around the world.
Neil Angst reviewed the process of entering the raffle. For each $25 dollars you donate, you will be given one ticket to place in boxes representing different prizes. You can look forward to the chance to win sports tickets, overnight stays, restaurant gift cards, themed gift baskets, and more. Sandy will be giving you your tickets based on the amount you pledged for the fundraiser, and you will then have the opportunity to start dropping your tickets in the box(es) of your choice.
HAPPY DOLLARS/BIRTHDAY BUCKS:
Kari Quaas was happy next week there will be a resolution for her father, Ralph Quaas. She also enjoyed spending time at Jackson Elementary School attending arts class with the students.
Cassidy Spencer was happy to attend a few spring training baseball games in Arizona to celebrate her birthday.
Jerry Tucker gave an update on Past President Don Senter. Don is doing well and sends his regards.
Henry Janicki is happy to be at a Rotary meeting as he has missed a few recently but he is hoping to get back in the swing of things soon. He has invited several friends and family to the event on April 2nd.

Winner Number 2 – Jerry Tucker selected Seahawks cap and Girl Scout cookies
Winner Number 3 – Will McMahan selected Girl Scout cookies and a candle.
PROGRAM: Students of the month
Everett High School - Lily Samuelson, introduced by Jen Selders, excels in academics, the arts and leadership. She is an award-winning artist, Senior class president, and has a 4.0 GPA while taking AP classes. Her other awards include the Golden Key Award, International Thespian Society and National Honor Society. She has presented her art at the Shack Art Center. She plans to attend Pacific Lutheran University in the fall and study Psychology.
Sequoia High School – Darcy Abundio, introduced by Tricia Schultz, demonstrates perseverance, determination and leadership. She shows grit while pushing herself to higher levels of academic accomplishment while working several hours outside of school. She has a sassy personality and is not afraid to speak up for what she believes in. She plans to attend Central Washington University to become a science teacher.

Cascade High School – Danielle Harrison, introduced by Cindy Knutz, is a bright, positive energy person who brings passion to everything she does. She is deeply involved in the performing arts, choir, and is the ASB Arts coordinator. She is also an active member in the Color Guard which is a performance-based sport of the arts that combines dance, acrobatics, and choreography with equipment like flags to visually interpret music for marching bands. It requires coordination, strength, and discipline, often serving as a competitive artistic outlet that builds confidence and teamwork. She has been described a is a model student and leader. She leads by example and wants to others and herself improve.
Interviews for scholarships are Saturday, April 18. Please consider being a member of the selection committee. It’s an all-day event
The Scholarship Awards program is Wednesday, May 13th. Last year our club awarded $390,000 in scholarships.
